Pokémon is about catching and training fictional creatures called “Pokémon” and battling them against other trainers. Each subsequent game generation builds on this concept and introduces new Pokémon, items, and game concepts. Some of the general concepts appeared in other parts of the series before they were introduced in the games; Double Battles were in anime long before they appeared in games, and Pokémon abilities are similar to the Pokémon powers introduced in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which also introduced Shiny Pokémon, which are Pokémon that are different colors than that Original. In Pokémon Contests, players around the world compete against each other with Pokémon. However, it requires a certain strategy, which consists of having Pokemon with high stats and choosing particularly effective moves.
